Ryland is eight years old and races UTV Youth Stock 170 Class in the GBC Short Course Series.  He leads the 2021 point standings with three wins in six races, with two races left in the season.

Racing is a family affair for the Gaughans. Ryland's brother also races the GBC Short Course Series. The boys' father is Brendan Gaughan, who retired from NASCAR in 2020. ORMHOF inductee Michael Gaughan is their proud grandfather.
