1968 Ford Bronco - Larry Minor/Jack Bayer

Vehicles

Year Started: 1966

This 1966 Ford Bronco was prepared by Bill Stroppe for the inaugural 1967 Mexican 1000, where it was driven by Ray Harvick and Bill Stroppe to a DNF after leading for much of the race. Larry Minor selected it for the basis of his 1968 season truck which Stroppe prepared for him to use in the Mint 400, Stardust 7-11, and Baja 1000, where it won it's class in all 3 races with Minor at the wheel and Jim Loomis and Jack Bayer as co drivers. It's currently undergoing restoration in Northern CA, by Andrew Norton. It is one of the first 4 Broncos Stroppe built to compete in off-road rallies and competitions from Riverside to Colorado starting in 1966. After 1968 it was raced by Bobby and AL Unser for Stroppe at the Mint 400. Stroppe and Parnelli Jones were in another Bronco together and both the Unsers and Stroppe/Jones rolled on day 1 resulting in a much contested 2nd place finish by AL Unser/Parnelli Jones in the Unser Bronco, marking Jones' first finish in a Bronco.
