Dana and his wife Darlene joined the California Four Wheel Drive Association in 1960 and immersed themselves in the association's events, club activities, trail projects, and the local search and rescue team.

Dana was never afraid to jump right in when volunteers were needed. In recognition of his service to Cal4Wheel, he received the association's Bozzy Willis Award, Membership Development Award, the Ed Dunkley Medal of Honor and the Past President's Award.

Dana passed away in 2020.
