Rubicon Trail Buggies

Rubicon Trail Buggies

Places, Industry

Year Started: 1961

Tiny Thompson owner of the Burro Company was one of the six dune buggy owners that were invited to go on the Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon Trail Run in 1966.

My dad made his first trip across the Rubicon Trail in 1967 in his Burro buggy with the Orange County Burro Club.

We did two to three Rubicon trips each summer with either the Orange County Burro's or our local dune buggy club in N CA called the Northern California Dune Buggy Association from 1968 and all through the mid 1980s. The later 1970s and on were done in a Chenowth frame buggy.

We also did the trail in the reverse direction twice, from Tahoe to Wentworth Springs.

Great pioneer Rubicon Trail buggy days!
