American Sand Association Receives Hall of Fame 2021 Land Use Donation

The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame 2021 Land Use Donation was presented to the American Sand Association (ASA).

Pictured on stage at the Hall of Fame 2021 Induction & Awards Gala are, left to right, ASA executive director Dave Kuskie, ORMHOF inductee and ASA board member Jim Bramham, ASA president Bryan Henry, and presenting the check, ORMHOF inductee and board member Bob Ham.

Each year the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame sets aside a percentage of donations received to contribute back to the off-road community in the form of a land use donation.

Recipients include:

  • 2016 Blue Ribbon Coalition
  • 2017 CORVA and San Diego Off Road Coalition
  • 2018 Friends of Oceano Dunes
  • 2019 Red Rock 4 Wheelers Multiple Use Defense (MUD) Fund
  • 2020 Tread Lightly!
  • 2021 American Sand Association

The American Sand Association's primary objective is to "UNITE, INFORM and MOBILIZE" the sand duning community to protect the right to ride on all public lands in a responsible, environmentally balanced manner.

The ASA as members of the Ecologic Partners legal group have been fighting for sand dune access through court actions related to the Oceano Dunes closure by the California Coastal Commission.

The ASA is also working to create a legal way for off-highway vehicles to cross the railroad tracks on the east side of the Glamis Dunes after the railroad blocked the old underpasses that allowed OHVs to cross between camping areas on the east side of the dunes to access the recreation area of the dunes themselves. They are currently coordinating the work that is being done with the BLM, County of Imperial, CalTrans, and the Southern Pacific Railroad to create a safe and legal crossing near SR 78 at Glamis to replace the old underpasses as a way for off-roaders to safely access their camping area on the east side of the tracks and the dunes.

The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame thanks its many members, partners, and donors for making the annual Land Use Donation possible.
