Owen's fascination with motorsports began at an early age. He started racing dirtbikes at the age of four and transitioned to short-course racing as part of the inaugural group of kids to race short-course karts in the Championship Off Road racing series at the age of six. He started racing professionally at the age of 13.
Owen learned much of his love of motorsports from his father, Rodney VanEperen, who he is fortunate to still race against to this day. Owen has won five amateur and professional championships over his career, as well as three Crandon Red Bull World Championships. For the 2025 season, Owen races the Pro Stock and PRO SXS classes for Yamaha in the Championship Off-Road racing series.
The last 12 months have been pretty important for Owen's off-road career. Some achievements include:
- Placing second in the Pro SXS Crandon World Championship to my dad.
- 2nd place 2024 Championship Off-Road Pro Stock points championship
- Also, 12 wins so far in the 2025 championship off-road season
"Off-road means the world to me as it has been involved in my life since a very young age. As for my future, I plan on continuing racing, learning, and improving every single year" – Owen Van Eperan
